This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday June 13th, sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

On June 12th, Sharon Stiteler observed an adult MISSISSIPPI KITE in Minnetonka, Hennepin County and it was also reported later in the day by two other observers. The location is just northeast of the junction of state highways 7 and 101 behind the Wild Bird Store. This is the same location where an adult kite was seen on April 26th. This brings the total number of Mississippi Kite sightings in the southwestern suburbs of Minneapolis to nine in the past eight weeks. The second most recent report was on June 9th, when Terry Brashear observed an adult Mississippi Kite in Golden Valley, Hennepin County near the southwestern shore of Sweeny Lake, just northeast of the junction of state highways 55 and 100.

A SNOWY EGRET was reported by Randy Frederickson on June 11th about six miles north of the town of Pennock in Kandiyohi County. The bird was on the west side of county road 1.

A HOODED WARBLER was reported from Myrphy-Hanrehan Park in Dakota County on the 11th. It was located on Blaylock Circle, which runs north off Sunset Blvd., just north of Murphy Lake. After turning onto Blaylock Circle, park at the highest point of the road.

On Monday June 10th, a pair of BELL'S VIREOS was heard at Black Dog Nature Preserve, Dakota County. In Burnsville, drive east from I-35W on Cliff Road for just over half a mile to the Fen Playground area. Park in the lot and walk northeast to the trail head past the soccer fields. Cross the railroad tracks, and walk about 75 yards to stand of shrubs. Bell's Vireos were also heard in Chester Woods, Olmsted County on the 8th near the horse trailer parking lot.

Doug Jenness found a PIPING PLOVER on June 7th in Duluth. It was associating with a flock of about 30 SANDERLINGS on the beach at Minnesota Point near the end of the wooden boardwalk just past the ball field.

Barb Kull reported a late migrant GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE in Isanti County on the 7th. And a YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO was seen on the 1900 block of Melvern Avenue in Lauderdale, Ramsey County, on June 10th.
