This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Tuesday May 7th, sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

Karl Bardon found an adult female KING EIDER on the morning of 7 May in Duluth, St. Louis County. It was on the bay side of Lake Superior along Park Point at 37th Street South. Karl also found a ROSS'S GOOSE at nearby Interstate Island.

A BURROWING OWL was found in Lowville Township, Murray County. It is located along county road 77 about a half mile east of county road 29.

As many as five WHITE-FACED IBIS were found on May 7th in Murray County. From the town of Slayton drive south on U.S. Highway 59 and turn right on the gravel road just south of the Slayton Concrete Company. Follow this road to the parking area and look for the "No motorized vehicles" sign and walk the road to where it turns right. I also have a report of a White-faced Ibis at Thielke Lake in Big Stone County from May 4th, but no specific information.

Paul Egeland found a SNOWY EGRET on Spielmann Lake in Yellow Medicine County on May 7th. Drive west on Yellow Medicine County Road 2 off state highway 23 and go four miles to the gravel township road. Turn north for one and a half miles, then west again for another mile and a half to the wildlife management area access road. Take this road south to the wetland.

A CINNAMON TEAL is still at the Old Cedar Avenue bridge area in Bloomington, Hennepin County. It's being seen in the east pond along the Hogback Ridge Trail. Look in the backwater to the left as you walk towards the new Cedar Avenue bridge.

In Wabasha, Wabasha County, a Western Tanager has been visiting the feeder of Grant Schuth since April 27th.

A male SUMMER TANAGER was reported on the 6th at the Hidden Falls area of St. Paul. The only details given were to look on the trail that runs along the Mississippi River.

On the 6th there were two PIPING PLOVERS at Lake Byllesby in Dakota County. Look from the cemetery at the northwest corner of the lake. A single Piping Plover was also reported from Duluth near the recreation area on May 2nd and in Grant County just south of Herman near county road 6. A Piping Plover was also reported from Clay County at the Sabin sewage ponds on May 7th.

Dave Zumeta found a HOODED WARBLER near his house in Minneapolis on the 6th. This is at the south side of the junction of 34th Street and 47th Avenue South. Dan Floren found a LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH in Meeker County on the 5th. It was at the north end of the Litchfield Nature Center.

I also have many recent reports of WILSON'S PHALAROPE, CASPIAN TERN, CHIMNEY SWIFT, RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD, GREAT CRESTED FLYCATCHER, BLUE-WINGED WARBLER, GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER, BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER, LE CONTE'S SPARROW, LARK SPARROW, and ORCHARD ORIOLE.
