Yesterday, September 21st, there was at least one Immature Lesser
Black-backed Gull in the mass of over 1000 Ring-billed Gulls that were
part of a feeding frenzy at Park Point. Someone has been dumping food,
which looked like popcorn and some other scraps of food, at the parking
lot on the north side of the Recreation Center at Park Point. The gulls
were amassed and waiting for their handout when we arrived at about
5:00. A woman came at about 5:15 with a huge bag of popcorn, etc. which
she dumped along the west side of the parking lot. Besides uncountable
Ring-billed Gulls, almost all adults, there were a few Herring Gulls,
and I was able to pick out one immature Lesser black-back. I suspect
there were others but I was only able to follow one carefully in the mob
of gulls.
