This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday, August 9th 2007.

A family group of four BURROWING OWLS was found in Pipestone County on
the 6th. The birds are 1.8 miles north of Edgerton on County Road 17.
Look 100 yards east of the road and 100 yards south of the treeline.
Birders should note that any nesting species and Burrowing Owls in
particular are sensitive to human intrusion.

Five unidentified SCOTERS were seen near the rocky island at Good Harbor
Bay, Cook County, on the 4th.

On August 8th, two WHIMBRELS were on the mudflats at Purgatory Creek
Wetland in Eden Prairie, Hennepin County, but the birds could not be
found the following morning. They were originally seen from the blind on
the southwestern side of the wetland, near Prairie Center Drive and
Technology Drive. An AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER was here on the 9th. A
BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER was at Tamarac Pool of Agassiz NWR in Marshall
County on the 3rd.

The next scheduled update of this tape is Thursday, August 16th 2007.
